pH

pH tells how acidic or basic the water is. pH scale ranges from 0-14, a pH of less than 7 is acidic, a pH of 7 is neutral, and a pH of greater than 7 is basic. A normal pH for the river is a pH of between 6-8. The pH can be made more basic by the addition of fertilizer to the water. If acid solutions are added to the water the pH will be lowered to unhealthy levels.
