The Dissolved Oxygen Test

D.O. is also known as dissolved oxygen. Dissolved oxygen is the amount of oxygen dissolved in the water that is available for animals to use. The source of DO in river water is from plants that live in the water and produce oxygen and from the atmosphere mixing with the water. Dissolved oxygen changes with the temperature of the water. The warmer the water the lower the DO. Conversely cooler water contains more DO.
