ARTHUR L. GREBETZ - Class of 1953

A few words...

Arthur Grebetz, an accomplished professional artist, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. Currently he creates images for commercial projects as well as doing commissioned paintings of people, landscapes, pets and homes. He has completed over 2000 illustrations for World Book Encyclopedia.

He has designed and illustrated projects for Jockey International, the American Medical Association, the American Diabetes Association and the American Dental Association.

He is an active member in his community and in his church. He credits several of his teachers at Park for nudging him to consider art school after receiving an E+ on an art project.

Gerald E. Clickner - Class of 1941

A few words...

The late Gerald Clickner known as Jerry, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, and his Doctorate of Law from Marquette Law School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served as a 1st Lt. in WWII receiving a silver star and a purple heart. Along with Mr. Bob Heise, he wrote and produced the Racine Theater Guild’s original musical “Adam Loves Eve”.

He faithfully served as the District Attorney of Racine County from 1965-1978. He also served in the Milwaukee District Attorney’s office during the 1980’s. He shared his wealth of knowledge as a law professor for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Mr. Clickner expressed his loyalty to Park High School by singing the fight song whenever he drove by Park.

GOMER W. ROBERTS - Class of 1949

A few words...

After earning his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School, Gomer Roberts served in the U.S. Air Force. He then moved to Fort Worth Texas to work for Radiology Associates, the largest radiology group in the country at that time.

An innovator in the field of radiology, Roberts and his associates developed fiberoptic gastrointestinal endoscopy, a revolutionary method for examining the upper and lower intestinal tract to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases including cancer.

Dr. Roberts passed away in 2004 on his 74th birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean in 1983. He is survived by his daughters Julia and Jennifer and their families.

JAMES L. MARTIN - Class of 1963

A few words...

After serving the City Attorney’s Office of Madison, WI for twenty-five years, James Martin came out of retirement to work as Madison’s City Attorney. He was appointed Circuit Court Judge by Governor Jim Doyle in 2003 (six-year term).

Mr. Martin earned his B.S. degree from the University of Dubuque in 1967 and was elected to the Athletic Hall of fame shortly thereafter. In 1977, the University of Wisconsin Law School recognized and honored him as Juris Doctor.

He has been a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin since 1977, serving on the Board of Governors and Professional Ethics Committee.

JAMES M. TUREK - Class of 1965

A few words...

At the time of his death in 2004, James Turek was serving his first term as President for the Village of Mt. Pleasant Board.

He also served as Treasurer for the Racine School Board, President of the Mt. Pleasant Storm Water Drainage Commission, and was a member of the Sustainable Racine Board.

A small business accountant by trade, Turek was active in the Racine County Republican Party, the Jaycees and Assembly of God Church. A Navy veteran, he served two years in Viet Nam.

James is survived by his widow, Sharman. He is further survived by his children, Shelly and Karl, and three grandchildren

JOSEPH LONGO - Class of 1942

A few words...

Recognized as the “Citizen of the Year-2003” in South Milwaukee, Joe Longo fully served his country and his community. An armorer/gunner in WWII with over thirty missions completed, Joe’s heroics resulted in many medals, including the Purple Heart.

He retired from the military in 1970 with the rank of Lt. Col. After completing his machinist apprenticeship stateside, Joe initially taught shop work at Marinette Vocational Tech. and Adult School, later becoming the director of South Milwaukee Vocational tech.

He was the first director of MATC’s South Campus, retiring in 1983 as Special Assistant to the District Director for National and International Activities.

JON P. WARDRIP - Class of 1958

A few words...

A nationally renowned educator, Jon Wardrip has headed the Advertising and Public Relations programs at Texas Tech University and the University of South Carolina.

He has published a book and presented numerous papers at national conventions on the topics of advertising, journalism, and mass communications.

Wardrip has been active in his church, United Way, Boy Scouts and a variety of activities in Columbia, South Carolina. Wardrip currently resides in Columbia with his wife, Dorothy. They have two grown children, Matt and Sarah.

ROBERT M. NOWAK - Class of 1949

A few words...

Robert Nowak is currently President and CEO of the Michigan Molecular Institute, and Oxazogen. After earning a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Illinois in 1956, he worked for Dow Chemical as a research chemist.

At the time of his retirement in 1993, he held 21 U.S. patents and 24 foreign patents in the area of organic reaction mechanisms and reinforced plastics.

Dr. Nowak is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering. In 1995 he was named outstanding alumnus of the University of Illinois.

Dr. Nowak is currently residing in Midland, Michigan with his wife, Sue. They have two daughters and seven grandchildren.
