ERNEST C. STYBERG, JR. - Class of 1947

A few words...

resident and CEO of E.C. Styberg Engineering Co. Inc., Styberg has served as director of RAMAC, M&I Bank, St. Luke’s Hospital, Kiwanis Club Racine Country Club and the Salvation Army Board. His company, which was founded in 1927, makes precision metal components and assemblies for heavy duty truck, tractors and military vehicles. He is also Director and President of the E.C. Styberg Foundation and helped establish a donor-advised fund at the Racine Community Foundation. Mr. Styberg is currently living in Franksville.

GARY D. VAILLANCOURT - Class of 1969

A few words...

A community leader and educator, Vaillancourt has served as executive director/president of Sustainable Racine, Inc., president of the Kemper Center, Inc., education director for the Kenosha Area Business Alliance, and director of education for RAMAC. He has been selected by the Journal Times as one of five people who have made a difference and has received numerous awards for his volunteer efforts.

Mr. Vaillancourt is currently chair of the Drama Department at Horlick High School and is the public address announcer for their football and basketball games. He resides in Kenosha with his wife Joy. He has two children and four step-children.

HARVEY B. RIEKOFF - Class of 1966

A few words...

An educator and coach in Racine since 1974, Riekoff took over as head boys’ track and field coach at Park in 1982. His teams have won numerous conference, regional and sectional titles, as well as state championships in 1997, 1998 and 2000. He is also past president of the Wisconsin High School Track Coaches Association and is a featured speaker throughout the Midwest.

Riekoff is currently a technology trainer for the middle and high school in Racine and has used his computer skills to create websites for Grace Church, the State Track Coaches Association and Park’s track team. He lives in Caledonia with his wife, Sandy.

JERRY L. WOODS - Class of 1984

A few words...

Woods is arguably one of the best athletes in Park history because of a rare blend of natural talent and tremendous work ethic. An all-state defensive back as a senior, he also played running back and was the Panther’s punter, kicker and kick returner. After accepting an athletic scholarship to Northern Michigan University, he was selected to the Division II All-American Team his junior and senior year. Woods was then drafted by the Detroit Lions and later played for the Green Bay Packers and for Barcelona in the World Football League.

In 2001 Woods was inducted into the NMU Sports Hall of Fame and still holds the school record for kickoff and return yards. He currently coordinates many youth sports activities in his community. He is a mechanical designer with Cummins, Inc. in Minneapolis where he lives with his wife, Rhonda, and their three children.

JOHN W. LEHMAN - Class of 1963

A few words...

An educator and legislator, Lehman has been active in local and state government since being elected to the Racine City Council as an Alderman in 1988. He has also taught history and economics at both Park and Walden since 1971. Mr. Lehman is currently serving his fourth consecutive term as a Representative in the State Assembly serving District 62 in Racine County.

In 1997, Lehman was inducted into the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a track athlete and as a recipient of an NCAA Post Graduate scholarship given for exceptional achievement in academic studies and athletic competition.

He is currently living in Racine with his wife, Catherine, who graduated from Park in 1972. They have three children, including daughter Rachel who was valedictorian of her class (1992). Mr. Lehman’s parents are also Park alumni (class of 1942).

MABEL E. DUKE - Class of 1929

A few words...

A member of Park’s first graduating class in January of 1929, Duke worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Racine for nearly 50 years, retiring in 1979. She began her career as a dishwasher and later became a cook and then head cook. At the time of her retirement, she was a dietary supervisor known for her diligence to detail and sense of love and caring for her patients. Mrs. Duke is currently the oldest active member at Faith United Methodist Church, and at the age of 92, still sings in the choir. She also continues to volunteer at St. Luke’s and is a member of the Southeastern Wisconsin Emmaus Community.

ROBERT M. SORENSEN - Class of 1936

A few words...

A former Executive secretary for the Racine County Safety Council, Sorensen helped establish community education programs aimed at public support for traffic and highway safety. In 1957 he was appointed Regional Director for the National Safety Council and coordinated an annual Inventory of Traffic Safety for cities over 25,000 in a five state area. Sorensen worked closely with government officials at the local, state, and federal level in Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Illinois and Wisconsin for 26 years retiring in 1983.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Sorensen has been active in a variety of community activities including the Boy Scouts, the Board of Directors of the March of Dimes, the Racine Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Fourth of July Goodwill Celebration. Currently living in Racine, he has two children, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

WENDELL E. ANDERSON - Class of 1961

A few words...

Anderson has devoted over 35 years of personal and professional expertise to improve the quality of life in Racine County. He held numerous positions in the city’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department, retiring in 1999. He is best known as the creator and founder of Salmon-A-Rama, which is the largest non-profit fishing event in the nation. Over the years he has also helped establish Animal Crackers at the Zoo, the local Soap Box Derby and the Racine County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Mr. Anderson has served 13 consecutive terms on the Racine County Board. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Tuesday Optimist Club, and Racine’s Fourth Fest Inc. He currently lives in Franksville with his wife, Lynn. They have three children and one grandchild.
