A few words...
My name is Ben Pfeilstifter. I have played volleyball for four years at Park, three years on Varsity, two of which I was captain. Also, I have participated in track, running the 400m and high jumping my sophomore year eventually getting bumped up to Varsity.
Through my four years of athletics at Park it has been a struggle. With volleyball, track, and club volleyball in the off season, my body took a beating with many injuries such as a broken foot, shin splints, knee problems, broken pinky’s, back problems, sprains, messed up ligaments, and pretty much any injury you can think of I probably had. Luckily I had a great chiropractor and even better a great group of teammates all four years that made being a volleyball player at Washington Park High school something to be proud of and something that I will never forget. All three years we won our conference. My senior year we were able to win sectionals and finally make it to the state tournament. Although we lost in the first round, we played a close match that went to a fifth game of extra points. I will never forget that game and that our school had the biggest and best crowd at the state tournament. Thanks for all the support!
Besides athletics I was the vice president for National Honor Society, the president of the Science Team, co-manager and creator of the Tutoring Program, a member of the VICA Team, a member of the Spanish Club, and a member of Positive Impact. I have put in over 500 hours of community service in my years at Park of which I am very proud of and have won countless state competition medals.
I will be graduating with 34.75 credits, with one on the way in the summer which will put that number to 35.75. I have maintained straight A’s throughout all of those classes (nine AP). I will be attending UW Madison in the fall, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Thank you so much to everyone who made this scholarship possible.
