Carl R. Madsen - Class of 1956

A few words...

A wildlife biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 35 years, Carl Madsen has been instrumental in developing property tax incentive for wetland preservation throughout the Upper Midwest. He has received dozens of awards in wildlife, water, waterfowl, and wetland conservation and helped establish projects that have restored over a half-million wetland acres. A graduate of UW-Stevens Point in Conservation and Biology, Mr. Madsen moved to Michigan State to earn a Masters Degree in Wildlife Management-Ornithology. He has served as president of the Wildlife Society in Wisconsin, Minnesota and South Dakota. Mr. Madsen has also been active in Ducks Unlimited, Izaak Walton League of America and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Married to wife Aileen for 42 years, He has three children and seven grandchildren.

Erland L. Muoio - Class of 1945

A few words...

A chemist at Johnson Wax for over 44 years, Erland Muoio is responsible for the development of some of the company's most innovative and successful products. After attending both Dominican College and Carthage College, he helped develope Pledge Furniture Polish, Kit Automotive Polish, Regard Panel Polish, and Big Walley Cleaner. Mr. Erland Muoio retired from Johnson Wax in 1987 and has mentored scores of chemists and technicians who have made significant contributions to the company. He is currently on the Board of Directors at Danish American Home and is past president of Bethania Lutheran Church. He has also been active in the Chemical Specialty Manufacturers Association and the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. His wife Doris and children Barb and Mike are also Park graduates.

Gerald F. Webers - Class of 1950

A few words...

A world-renowned geologist and paleontologist and retired Professor of Geology at Mascalester College in St. Paul Minnesota, Dr. Gerald F. Webers has participated in four Antarctic expeditions and has led two of them. In recognition of his explorations, five mountains in western Antarctica are names "Webers Peaks". Two Antarctic fossils are also named after him. A 1954 graduate of Lawrence University in Appleton, he received a Masters Degree and PhD. from the University of Minnesota in Geology (Paleontology). He has authored two books and over 60 abstracts that have been published in national and international journals. Still professionally active as a Professor Emeritus, he has also given over 100 presentations regarding his Antarctic experiences to schools in the Twin Cities. His older brother Vincent is also a member of the Park Hall of Fame.

Jerry Anderson - Class of 1955

A few words...

A Career which began with a mechanical engineering degree from UW- Madison in 1959 has branched out to include work in rocket propulsion, space exploration landers, ICBM defense systems, and solar energy. Following his retirement from ARCO, A.J. Anderson founded Sunset Technology, which provided research and consulting in photovoltaics (solar electricity). In 1994 he was appointed Secretary of the International standards governing the thirty-three member nations. Today, Mr. Anderson claims to be "fully" retired, yet serves his local Catawba Science Center (North Carolina) as a science advisor committee member.

John R. Pierson - Class of 1954

A few words...

An innovator in automotive battery technology, John Pierson has numerous U.S. and foreign patents describing battery design improvements. His designs have been used worldwide in the electrical systems of standard combustion engines as well as hybrid and electrical-powered vehicles. After graduating from UW-Madison in 1959 in Chemical Engineering, he began his career at Johnson Controls in 1960 as a Process Development Engineer and retired in 1998 as a Senior Vice President in charge of Engineering. Mr. Pierson earned an MBA from Northeastern University in Boston in 1982 and still works as a consultant. He has served as chairman of the Society of Automotive Engineers, president of the Electromechanical Society-Battery Division, and is also active in the UW-Madison Alumni Association and has served in the Wisconsin Air National Guard. Married to Celine for 45 years, he has three daughters and six grandchildren.

Nancy Jo Dowler - Class of 1963

A few words...

Nancy Jo Dowler's accomplishments in a variety of fields make her a unique and welcome addition to the Hall of Fame. Her talents have contributed to the world of art as well as animal husbandry. She is President and primary care giver at the Timber Wolf Preservation Society. In addition to caring for sixteen wolves, she supervises the efforts of thirty volunteers and works in community outreach with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, UW-Milwaukee, and the Milwaukee and Waukesha County Courts system. As an artist, Ms. Dowler has exhibited works in Kenosha and Milwaukee. One of her photographs was selected as a semi-finalist in the International Library of Photography.
